David Paxton, 44, of Lowergate, Paddock, Huddersfield, was jailed for 10 months and banned from driving for 29 months after pleading guilty to dangerous driving, driving while banned and having no insurance. It came after Paxton, who has multiple motoring offences on his record, led police on a chase along the M1 before turning off into Garforth in November. |

Chris Makin, 65, of Micklefield was found guilty of an assault of a ?persistent and prolonged nature? and fined him ?4,800 at Harrogate Magistrates Court on Thursday. The assault incident happened on 4th April 2023 when a group of local residents in Church Fenton gathered to try to stop contractors working for Makin ?crowning? trees. Makin was also ordered to pay a ?1,920 surcharge, ?775 costs and ?684 compensation to the victim Mr Mason. |

A desperate drug addict stole a ?17,000 road-rolling plant machine and then led police on a chase around Garforth. Simon Pickard was seen loading the vehicle into a Ford Transit on cloned plates after reversing up the track of a farm off Selby Road in Garforth. Police spotted the van on Bar Lane and turned to begin pursuing him along Aberford Road. He was caught on Collier Lane near Aberford where the police were able to stop him safely. He was given 16 months jail suspended for 24 months. |
